With the world around us changing seemingly every minute, I wanted to be sure to provide an update on National Rebuilding Day. As a supporter of Rebuilding Together Hartford and of our 26th annual Rebuilding Day, you likely have a lot of questions about how we will proceed given the challenges we are facing.
As I am sure you have heard, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin has announced that any gathering of more than 10 people will be prohibited in the City of Hartford. This emergency order runs through April 30, 2020 but may be modified, extended, or terminated at any time. At Rebuilding Together Hartford, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus health crisis and have been working with our National office, local Rebuilding Together affiliates, and our Board of Directors, to identify what steps we need to take regarding National Rebuilding Day on April 25, 2020.
While specific details are still being worked out, I can tell you that we will NOT be having Rebuilding Day on April 25th. We are in the process of reimagining what Rebuilding Day will look like and are hopeful we can plan an alternate date or dates. Ultimately, our Board of Directors needs to make this decision, and are discussing those details. We want to be sure we fulfill the commitment Rebuilding Together Hartford has made to the homeowners and to the South End of Hartford to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives.
Our first priority is the safety and health of everyone involved in Rebuilding Day – volunteers, homeowners, contractors, and our staff. We have been in touch with all of our homeowners, many of whom are grateful that we are keeping our social distance as several are elderly and/or have underlying health conditions that make them especially vulnerable to this disease.
Thank you for your continued commitment to Hartford homeowners and for your patience and understanding as we work towards a solution for Rebuilding Day. We will continue to post updates on our website, www.rthartford.org, as well as on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/rebuildingtogetherhartford/.
Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions, sthrall@RTHartford.org.
Thank you again – stay safe and healthy,
