Rebuilding Together Hartford Providing Essential Home Repairs to Local Residents in Need

Hartford, CT May 13, 2020 — Rebuilding Together Hartford, the local affiliate of the leading national nonprofit organization with a mission to repair the homes of people in need and revitalize our communities, is providing essential home repairs to older adults who are sheltering in place as a result of the spread of the coronavirus and to people who have lost income during the current economic downturn.

Rebuilding Together Hartford provides critical home repairs to ensure the safety and health of community residents in need including families with young children, seniors and people with disabilities. Rebuilding Together Hartford is often the primary resource delivering emergency home repairs to these populations.

The organization installs grab bars and handrails, builds ramps to help people safely get in and out of their home, installs raised toilets and accessible showers to keep our older adults safe in their home. Rebuilding Together Hartford also provides emergency repairs, including roof repairs, water heater replacements, HVAC repairs and more to increase safety in the home. According to Rebuilding Together’s latest survey, nine in ten neighbors that received repairs anticipate they can safely live in their home over the next decade and beyond.

“No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and having a roof over their head,” said Sarah Thrall, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Hartford. “In these times of crisis, our work to provide critical home repairs and ensure the safety and health of our neighbors is needed more than ever.”

While Rebuilding Together Hartford typically works with volunteers, repairs are currently being performed by local contractors who are helping fulfill the mission of the organization. Any Hartford homeowners who are in need of critical home repairs are encouraged to apply for Rebuilding Together Hartford’s Emergency Home Repair program by calling 860-757-9425 or by emailing info@rthartford.org.
