Success Stories

IM000959.JPGOver the years Rebuilding Together Hartford has touched many people’s lives with projects ranging from something as simple as painting a bedroom or implementing energy efficiency upgrades, to complex window replacements, sometimes it can be the smallest project or the time spent by volunteers that makes a tremendous difference to someone in need.

Here are just a few examples of how Rebuilding Together Hartford has helped improve people’s homes and their quality of life:

It is with great joy and admiration for the Rebuilding Together Hartford program, it’s volunteers and supporters that I submit this letter of appreciation. My family is grateful for the much needed repairs, renovations and professional services that Rebuilding Together provided for our mother’s home. I not only witnessed, but participated in what has to be one of the greatest experiences and wonders of a lifetime. To watch women and men, from neighboring cities, towns and states freely dedicate their time and labor to help other’s that they don’t even know, epitomizes the scriptures and puts into action and application, what it truly means to “Love thy Neighbor”. It was truly a day of Thanksgiving! Rev. Dowdell

My family and I are so grateful to you and for the blessing we received. I am a 41 year old woman with medical problems that caused me not to be able to work. In addition to that, I have five children to care for. My furnace stopped working right before the winter began. The children and I used electric heaters and blankets to keep warm and we would say our prayers, asking that we be safe through each night. I then found out about your organization! I called and what a blessing! I then received a call back with the time and date that my new furnace would be installed. I thank you from my heart and the children also thank you. God bless you. Ms. Lewis

My children and I would like to thank you all! Working with Rebuilding Together Hartford volunteers was a totally awesome experience. The work that was done to our home has allowed us to now live in parts of our home in which we could not. Just saying thank you could never be enough! Tasha Roberts

I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful work that Rebuilding Together provided me. Without which, I would have never been able to afford the repair work needed on my home. As a retired Senior citizen on a fixed income facing the ever-rising cost of maintenance and repairs on an old home, your organization was a God sent. Every time I think of what your organization has done for me and countless others, I am reminded that we are our brother’s keeper, something that your organization epitomizes. Thank you for the window replacements, screen door, banister railing in my basement, fence repair, electrical work, deck repair and drainage system. Indeed, the work ethic of the work crew was remarkable. I was made to feel appreciated and respected as a human being. Once again, thank you! Mr. Barfield

I would to let you know how very much I appreciate the work you did at my home. You have been such a great help to me. Your entire crew was wonderful. The new storm windows will be a great help because I live on a fixed income and the windows will help a lot with my fuel bill. Also, I did not realize the garage roof was in such bad shape. If you had not replaced it, it could have fallen in on me at any time. Because of my age of 92½, and my physical condition, I am limited in what I can do. Your work has been a blessing to me. Ms. Kelly

I write with pure sincere thanks. With help from Rebuilding Together Hartford, my furnace was replaced. Without the support of this program, there is no way that I would have been able to replace the furnace. I have always been able to support myself financially. I sustained an injury on the job and was deemed disabled, not able to work and forced to live on a fixed income. Here I am to witness to such a wonderful program that changed my life. Thank you. Ms. Vera

My name is Ms. Lillian and I am sight impaired (legally blind) with limited mobility. I was blessed by your organization when volunteers worked in my home in order to make it more handicap accessible. To name some of the repairs made for my benefit: repaired water drain for the roof, cleared yard of debris, leaves and limbs, repaired locks on storm doors, replaced lock on back door, installed hook for hanging broom and mops, added stairs, replaced non-energy freezer, additional space, cleared existing counter space, added handicap railing and cabinets/sink in bathroom, replaced towel and paper holders in the bathroom. I am sure there are more. I am most appreciative of every person and everything. Because of you, I can see myself enjoying my home for many more years. Ms. Lillian
